Description: 
Acts in the highest level technical role as an individual contributor. 
Utilizes a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs. 
Works on the most complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors. 
Plans, performs, and acts as the escalation point for the most complex platform designs, coding, and testing. 
Leads most complex multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis efforts. 
Acts as expert technical resource to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process. 
  
High level technical role is needed on an Operational Data Warehouse project. Work with Data Architect and ETL Project Lead to Design, develop and test efficient functional and operational data load processes in order to meet project and audit requirements. 
  
Will assist other ETL developers in development, testing and documentation of Job Management,  MetaData, Code Versions and Implementation Process/Procedures for future ETL code Developers to follow.

The Oracle DBA is responsible for providing technical expertise in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of an existing high-volume, data intensive system.

Position requires critical thinking and problem solving abilities to address complex issues involving data movement and data replication among geographically dispersed components of the overarching system.

Candidate must be able to support large enterprise initiatives and help resolve architectural issues in the environment and database infrastructure, as well as develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the database architecture and the application functionality.

Additional responsibilities may include database design and implementation for multiple releases; supporting multiple system environments (lab, production sites); installing, maintaining, and refreshing Oracle database for development, test and production environments; performing database patching, upgrade and migration as necessary; analyzing performance issues and providing recommendation based on testing results; proactively diagnosing and resolving problems affecting database; maintaining database configurations in compliance with release management and change management; participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

The candidate will work with a cross-section of organizations, including other DBA's, systems engineers, developers and the management team.

Oracle Application DBA - Reston VA

The Senior Database Administrator will provide all data management functions and participate in the design and implementation of high performance and high reliability databases. The candidate will be in rotation with other team members to provide 24 X 7 support. The candidate also will be engaged in the database architecture decisions. In addition, strong Data Mart design, modeling and implementation skills are highly desirable for this position. 

Responsibilities: 
Job responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: 
Lead or participate in database architecture? design and implementation 
Lead or participate in Data Mart architecture? design and implementation 
Lead or participate in modeling initiatives? (object, logical), data analysis and management of data models/data dictionary 
Lead or participate in database upgrade process (from Oracel 10 to 11g)? 
Analyze and resolve, or recommend solutions to highly complex technical? problems such as performance issues, reliability issues, and data quality issues 
Build database(s), maintain database baselines, support application? requirements, testing and implementations 
Provide 24 X 7 support on a? periodic basis (requires carrying pager) 
Prepare status reports to? accurately communicate progress; provide early notification of problems that could effect schedules, or the integrity or availability of data 
Develop? scripts or tools to automate support tasks. 
To be effective in this role,? the Senior Database Administrator must stay abreast of state-of-the-art technologies in database technology and data management practices, and must be able to influence and educate project teams on the importance of good data management practices 

Qualifications: 
Must-Have Skills: 
10+? years of Oracle DBA experience including building objects and maintaining production environments 
10+ years of experience in Relational database? concepts, relational logical modeling, best practices, and physical design 
? 10+ years of experience in the IT industry, including full life cycle methodology, standard office products such as Word and Excel, and some application development 
5+ years of experience in the database? architecture, design and implementation of high performance and high reliability databases 
5+ years of Unix operating system experience including shell? scripting and file management. 
3+ years of using modeling tool, preferable? ER/Studio 
5+ years of designing, implementing and supporting Data Mart? 
Expertise in working with High volume, and High Transaction databases? 
Expertise in fine tuning databases for optimal performance? 
Expertise? in requirements gathering and Database Modeling using the various tools 
? Expertise of Autosys and its scripting to automate and schedule the various routine maintenance tasks 
Excellent oral and written communication skills? 
Knowledge of S-OX procedures and implementations to comply with the? regulations
